Off-ice training

How important is off-ice training for skaters? Just think about how thin the blades are and how slippery the ice is!

You need a good sense of balance and muscle strength just to hold yourself up.

Flexibility will help you to show off those beautiful spirals and do great camel and layback spins.

You will need conditioning to skate effortless programs, agility to get a lot of speed, and quickness to rotate multi revolution jumps.

Ballet and dance will teach you body awareness, beautiful arm movements, and make you a better performer.

When you start skating, the majority of your training time should be spend off ice. As you progress you will spend more time on the ice, and all of your hard work off ice will help you improve faster.
