Skating skills 1. Stroking.

I started my youtube channel with a series I call “Skating Skills”. Every week I plan to release new exercises for ice skating.

In my first video I will cover a very basic move: stroking.

During stroking remember to focus on proper posture, knee and ankle bend, and keeping your arms stretched out to the side.

Push with inside edge and extend your free leg with your foot turned out and pointed.

It seems like a plain exercise, but you can always make it more fun by adding some arm movement to it. You can use one arm or both at the same time.

To feel your skating knee working during stroking we will do our second exercise with a double plie. Keep your hips over your skating foot and make sure to bend your ankle and knee before you push.

Third exercise will help you to feel a good power push, because you will have to do a T-stop and come to a stand still position every time before you start moving again. This will make you work really hard and you will improve your power.

Here is the link to my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@styleskating35 , where you can watch all these exercises. I hope you enjoy watching my videos and learn something new.
